Song Spotlight(s): Japanese Versions

Korea is a relatively small country to be launching so many big name stars from, so to keep profits up and market their artists as "global stars," Korea is known for giving their stars a Japanese debut, and depending on their success, several of these acts like TVXQ, FT Island, Girl's Generation, etc, will have long term careers there. Most develop original material for their Japanese discs, but they also include Japanese language versions of their most popular songs, especially since Japanese fans are already somewhat familiar with these songs.

Honestly speaking, it can get a bit odd listening to these tracks when you're already completely familiarized with the original, but some of them will surprise you with how good they are. Here are some of my personal faves:

1. "Oppa, Oppa"- Super Junior Donghae & Eunhyuk

2. "Tonight"- Big Bang 

3. "Man Man Ha Ni"- U-Kiss

4. "Oh"- Girl's Generation

5. "Catch Me"- TVXQ

6. "Replay"- SHINee (Anything that gives them a new MV is cool with me)

7. "Step"- KARA
