There's just something so satisfying about first love, isn't there? I'm happy I can still say this years after the first time I ever fell in love, which unlike Takano and Onodera's relationship in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, never really came to anything the way I wanted it to. The object of my affections is still someone who is very precious to me, and since he's still the amazing guy he was when I first met him, I see no reason to love and respect him any less, even though what that love signifies has changed over the years.
In 'Sekai de Ichiban Koishiteru,' Kita Shuuhei celebrates all the things to love about falling in love for the first time, which no matter how it turns out, is an experience like no other. The joy of this song is an absolutely perfect opening to a show that tells the story of the triumphs of first love, and even for those of us with less than perfect histories with love... well, it serves as an important reminder to that butterflies-and-rainbows feeling that still touches our hearts, even as our views of love mature.
It's hard not to be a little jealous of 'the world's best first love' |
